Lesson 2: Crossing Lines (Objects, Position, and Perspective)
In this lesson, students review how to draw overlapping items, as learned in the "Augsburg's First Year Drawing" course.
Instructors show children the lesson image and demonstrate how to draw each figure.
- Using a pencil, instructors draw A, using heavy black lines.
- Instructors draw rest lines for the objects, noting to children that the rest line represents the surface on which the objects stand.
- Instructors erase the lines that cannot be seen to produce B.
- Instructors repeat the demonstration for C through J.
Children complete the following drill work:
- Draw group A. Erase lines that cannot be seen to create group B.
- Draw group C. Erase lines that cannot be seen to create group D.
- Draw group E. Erase lines that cannot be seen.
- Draw group F. Erase lines that cannot be seen.
- Draw group G. Erase lines that cannot be seen.
- Draw group H. Erase lines that cannot be seen to create group I.
- Draw group J. Erase lines that cannot be seen.
